In some sense, this is a continuation of some of the material qualities of the first one, using sapphire in a very unusual way, creating an irregular shape, and being an asymmetrical sculptural watch. I think that there’s always going to be a place for mechanical movements; there’s such a magic in that, and I have the feeling that the next phase is going to be size. We’re going to be able to shrink down a lot of these mechanical movements using new technology and material science. This new buy copy watches that I’ve produced has a smaller movement, and with the rounded forms, has a slightly smaller feeling on the wrist which, aesthetically, I think really works well for the object.
“In terms of the MP17 Arsham Splash itself, part of my drive was to really create something that had never been seen before; a sapphire and titanium watch that is asymmetrical, that has curves on it, employing peat blasted sapphire with that frosty, matte texture… this is something that has not been used in watchmaking. I think, aesthetically, the perfect clone watches looks different from anything that’s really ever been made.”

Elaborating on the use of frosted sapphire crystal for the bezel of the new watch, Daniel concurs that it hasn’t been done before. “I think it’s probably not a quality that would have been considered in the past, but in this case, we’re using it both ways, in the frosted form and clear, and it’s pushing the potential of that material to give new feelings and new qualities, which is something I’m always interested in as an artist. To the credit of the Swiss made replica Hublot watches team, most of the design elements that I wanted to push, which were challenging, were accepted into their design pipeline. There’s a lot of risk in the use of sapphire for materials breaking, and it’s certainly been an interesting technical challenge to create both the pocket watch and the wristwatch.”
